Premium Red Wines
Australian Shiraz – $220
New 2014: The up-front aromatics reflect the dark fruit notes of blackberry, cherry, and plum, complimented by restrained black pepper. In the background are subtle layers of toast and vanilla from the oak. The aromas continue to the palate creating a soft, rounded expression of the fruits, spice, and oak.
Amarone – Veneto, Italy (with Grape Skins) – $220
This Italian wine, which is full-bodied, richly dry and a deep garnet color, has a long, lingering finish. It has a foundation of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes from the Veneto region. Notes of plum, sour cherry, raspberry and vanilla gradually marry with anise, bitter chocolate, coffee and fig tones that develop with age. Its depth, which is likened to Port (without the sweetness), comes from the addition of dried grapes during fermentation.
Cabernet Sauvignon – Lodi Ranch 11 (with Grape Skins) – $220
Oak and tannins, pepper and spice combine to enhance trademark blackcurrant and cherry flavors. Rich fruit and complex structure dazzle from first aroma to long, refined finish.
NEW Merlot – Napa Valley Stag’s Leap District (with Grape Skins) – $220
Light warm oak accentuates a spicy aroma with a soft, supple and fruity palate of plums and red berries. Rich, round flavor provides an elegant lingering finish.
Argentinean Malbec (with Grape Skins) – $220
The definitive star of Argentina. Our Malbec is distinguished by its dark, dense structure, full, rounded mouth-feel, prominent, lush flavours of ripe cherry, black currant and black berry, subtle notes of clove, vanilla and caramel with background suggestions of earthiness.
Old Vines Zinfandel – Lodi, CA (with Grape Skins) – $220
Premium French oak meets spice to create this bold, rich and exciting blend of zesty aromas and ripe berries playing on the tongue.
NEW Montepulciano – Italy – $220
Montepulciano is a vigorous red grape variety widely planted over much of east-central Italy, capable of creating deeply coloured, rich red wines with blackberry fruit flavors and spicy, peppery tannin levels. Montepulciano generally produces wines that are smooth and mellow yet robust and mouth filling, with dependably high alcohol content.
NEW Nebbiolo – Italian Piedmont (with Grape Skins) – $220
A burly and assertive wine with dark cherry iridescence. Intense and robust with notes of strawberries, a hint of dark tar, and floral aroma complemented by rich, earthy truffles.
Super Tuscan – Italy (with Grape Skins) – $220
Our gold medal winner made from Cabernet, Merlot and Sangiovese grapes. A big, full-bodied wine with solid structure and bold fruit notes. Hints of cassis, plum, and cherry balance the bold tannins of this hearty red. French and American oak contribute toasty vanilla flavors and rich complexity.
